Surprises this weekend in Davis Cup

There were definitely a few surprises this weekend but none bigger than Switzerland losing to the U.S.A And not only did Switzerland lose by Saturday...they also lost the two dead rubbers today! Never could have imagined that they would go down 0-5.

Another surprise was seeing Russia go down to Austria. Maybe only a minor surprise though. I figured that if Russia didn't clinch it Friday/Saturday then it would be a hard task for Bogomolov to take out Melzer.

The Japan vs Croatia tie was also a surprise. Thought it would be a shut out but the decision came down to the 5th rubber!

Unfortunately, there was no Raonic vs Tsonga 4th Rubber as Raonic was replaced by Dancevic because of a sore knee.

Here's a run-down of how the ties played out.
